First rock an kelp trip of the year
« on: August 31, 2010, 10:57:47 pm »
Spent the afternoon making up pulley rigs, rotten bottoms etc. Then got to the mark near Redcar about 2 hrs before high, sea looked good, good swell and plenty of colour.Armed with me new rig's wide gape 5-0's,frozen peeler, mussel, squid and prawns, big bait's order of the day.
Getting bites from the off,but not connecting probably small billet knocking the bait about.About the third cast the rod nearly bounced out of the rod rest, grabbed it an wound in solid, bust the rotten bottom off,not a chance it was down in the kelp/rocks.This happened another three times,a right p#sser.Fished til 1 hr after high then wrapped it.
Looking back on it I think the rotten bottoms should have been lighter, normally fish this spot with 8lb r/b but for some reason used 14lb today,I think the extra time to bust the weight out lost me the fish.Never mind you live and learn, enjoyed the session  :fish:

Not A Good Report ,Trev, But You Had A Go, As For Rotten Bottems,,Dont Use Them..
I Use Escape Links, They Can Be Adjusted For Tension,, But Do Need Reloaded Every Cast . If You Forget They Reliese Early,, Resulting In A Lost Lead,,
                                      ,,,,BRI,,,,
Thinking about this one,,

pulley rigs Bri,where I was fishing it's a bonus the few times you get a sinker back but you've got to be fast to keep the fish out of the kelp and boulders, once they get down you have no chance.

No mate it was picking up just before and during that last blow-up,then the wind went easterly kiss of death down here clears the water to much.Been to Seaton then Saltburn tonight not a sniff, couple of small rocky rattles.Started at 6 over seaton,to much weed and wind in yer face so rapped it.Got to Saltburn about 8 fished it over high water til 10,bait fresh peeler, squid, mussel :fish:
