its a bit like a small scarborough reel that turns for casting i just remember1 of me dads friends useing it when i was a little un.everyone andi do meen everyone used to have to get out of the way cause if ya didnt get it right you would put someones lights out for good.
these look a lot less bother than the ones of old but from the video the princable is still the same .
i 1st thought they were trotting reels used by freshwater anglers then fly reels strange looking things.
of all the things iv lost,
only my mind needs to be found.

used one on the boat for a long time chris,so easy to use, just got one for casting the other day and am casting just as far as i was with a multiplier,[not far haha]had to put mono on it as the braid i had on was keep getting crack offs on it,thats why i was trying to see Barney as i know he uses braid on his and there must be a knack to laying it on the reel or something else he does???  As for fishing with them i think they are as good as the rest of them from the boat but that is just my opinion, every body to there own, will let yous know when i eventually get to the beach with the casting reel how i get on,,cheers Davy.
should have been here yesterday,,hahaha.

Good bit of kit mate,a good few of the cliff lads use them down here. You can get a decent cast with them and they have the power to winch big fish up the cliffs.

Barney simpson uses them for field casting and fishing , and at 70 years old he is still casting over 200 yards , so they must be ok

That's what they are Chris but like Bri's pics show you turn them sideways to cast and the line comes off a bit like a fixed spool, but the yukking power is unbelievable.
