Amble open.
« on: July 25, 2010, 07:24:05 pm »
This question has been posted on BSA and NESA by a lad called Tony from Alnwick.

Would you still have fished our comp if wrasse had been excluded from the weigh-in?

I'd like some feedback on this please, I'm going to try again to get wrasse banned from our club and open comps, and I'd be interested in how everyone else thinks.

Cheers lads and lasses.

To tell ya the truth it would not bother me if ya could not weigh in wrasse there's is other summer species to catch.
My blog feel free to take a look.

Not bad to eat, just as bony as bream. As far as banning them in matches probably not for me,I  can understand his thinking but if we go that route it starts to let in the catch an return mob next thing we won't be able to take a fish.
I'm not a complete idiot there's bits missing

Just look at Abbs and Eyemouth how many wrasse there are compared to the resident codling, through people keeping the codling and throwing the wrasse back, there might be more wrasse than codling caught during matches if wrasse were banned come to think of it,as people would be weighing in more codling and throwing all wrasse back. so i'm chaning my mind a bit.  :ash22:

Personally i let most fish go with the exception of cod, which i eat or whities which are badly hooked, majority of fish i try and return.......Competitions though where money is involved, people will keep them if they are set to make a profit :o......As fish stocks decline and clubs start outlawing species in decline, how long will it be before Cod is outlawed..........plus if clubs start knocking more species off there list of allowed fish......then it will only be a matter of time before the clubs dissappear.........Its a difficult subject eddie a very sensetive one where clubs want to be seen doing the best for future fish stocks, but at the same time not upset to many people who fish the club matches......To be honest though whats everyone worrying about once the sea fishing license comes into effect there will be loads of fish for everyone to catch wtf hide

Think The Problem Is With Wrasse,Or Any Rock Caught Fish Is Getting It Back
To Sea Safely,Wrasse ,,like Bream,Are Delicate Fish, And Must Be Handled So
Unless They Are Keepers,, How Many Anglers Catch A Wrasse, Unhook It And
Throw It Back,, Only To See It Floating On The Surfice,,,Dead,,
Think About It,,If Every Angler In The British Isles Did That To All Fish They
Caught, And Threw Back..How Long Would Our Hobby ,,,Passtime,,
The Things Us Anglers Like To Do ,,,Last,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
                              ,,,,,,,,BRI,,,,,,,,,
Thinking about this one,,
