Big learning curve on Holderness

Got down to Hornsea about 12-30 and a quick phone call later we're off to Tunstall, about another 15 mile. We set up on the clifftop first as we needed to get fishing only an hr and a bit to high tide. I fluffed me first cast and landed about 30 yds out, Jim emptied his reel launching one out. ten minutes later I got a good knock and hooked into a good flatty which took us about ten minutes to get up the mud heap called a cliff.It was about a lb to 1- 1/2lb biggest blackback I've had :lol2:
 
 Couldn't see much being landed down on the beach so stuck it out on top til just after H/W. Then a lad says he's had 6 cod on the flood to the north of us,so we set off to find a way down.With some help from the lads on the beach we found the get down.F##k me it was like going 60ft down a Brazilian mud slide dodgy as shite.

 Got set up and a chat with some lad's who had a couple a piece, they said the night before all the fish were on the ebb.Not tonight though one missed bite and packed in just gone 8.

 We decided against attempting to get back up the mud wall of death and trooped back along the beach to a better access. On the way we checked the beach out, some cracking gulleys and one about 30yds infront of were we fished the cliff.About a 2 mile walk back to the car but we found some cracking spots to try the next time we come.

 All in all this place fishes but the fishing turns on an off like a light and even the locals can't predict whether it will fish ebb or flood.A good day out on a new mark and yes we got lost on the way home whistle

Should have got down earlier but you live an learn thats what it's all about, interesting thing cocktails werent working mainly 1 bait lug,mussel,razor with a small squid flapper or 1 whole small squid. big baits done nowt.

may be on another day big baits will of caught fish like ya said there was fish there the night before ya never get to tides the same.

But if ya dont try ya never know.

Ed it was a good day an the way I look at it if ur not catching yer learning a bit more, met some cracking lads who were only to willing to give you good advice on the place. One thing but there was a mass of anglers out on the popular spots even for a Monday so if you lads are going down on a weekend expect plenty of company or pick a hard to get to spot

Or with out a dowt Trev if ya never catch owt ya still learn about the mark thats what its all.

Not fussed on how manys down Trev as long as there's a spot for us.

Fresh and frozen blacks,squid,razor,mussel,mackie we would of had lug but it turned to mush after 2 days :MDDDSSS: I'd try an get some yellow tails aswell when you go

Sounds like ya missed them Trev but thats fishing its all a learning curve there's no tell
when the fish are going to be there.
