The Hall/Featherbed Rock 15/1/11
« on: January 15, 2011, 07:43:01 pm »
Arrived at about 10.30, sea was flat as a fart and there was very little wind as the cliffs were giving shelter. First cast i managed a beautiful afro in my reel, had forgot i had knocked the brakes off when cleaning it. So it was out with old faithful. Fishing was terrible upto HW and on the Ebb but just as the tide started to turn i got a lovely knock, which i missed coz i was rolling a tab. So reeled in and rebaited trace and back out it went.15 mins later ,another lovely knock, and yes you have guessed it, i missed that 1 as well, was rolling yet another tab.
About 30 mins later i got an ok knock and brought in a coalie just on 9 inches long, was well chuffed as i had saved the blank. Repaited with a lovely big seafood kebab and out it went. 10 mins later i got a cracking thump on the end of the rod and struck it, in she came , a lovely clean coalie 33.5 cms long.Just under size so it was safely returned to the water.Left about 2pm after having a couple of half house brick sized rocks thrown down at me from the top of the cliffs by 2 you nuggets. 1 came bloody close and i consider myself lucky.

All in all fishing was poor with no sign of yting or the illusive cod.
Anyone can fish......It's Catching them that's the hard part.

2011 SPECIES CAUGHT:  Coalie x3(biggest 33.5cm), Rockling x6, Blenny x1, Flounder x1, Whiting x1

I must admit though chris, the seafood kebab worked well. I thought it was a cod i had on the end ,the way the end of the rod went. Was a proper big thump.
