Rained off this afternoon so managed to get out fishing again, had a drive along the sea front and the sea was quite big with the wind coming straight from the east making it quite difficult for the beach marks,so opted for the end of the old north pier fishing into the bay, perfect conditions, big swells and a biggish tide, started fishing about 1 and it was very slow odd bites but no sign of any codling, about 2 the swells were getting quite big ,not only the horizontal rain to deal with, the spray was just soaking everything....very uncomfortable........lad i know who came down caught a couple of whities undersize.........still not a sniff of any codling....did here reports of codling coming in up river to 5lb..........Couple of lads were fishing down below and to be honest conditions were becoming worse, one of the lads fishing had a word with them and they did climb back up and fished elsewhere.....another twenty minutes and they would of been in the water.........Got to the point where the waves were breaking onto the old pier so made a sharp exit, stayed on the old pier but fished off the side into the bay......straight into fish but not the sort i wanted.............the dreaded billet.......every cast getting hit by them, stayed until six, canny session but no codling, canny to get back on there fishing again...been a while.....cracking mark on its day....not today though........next time :up22:
