The prices are going up in January its 220 quid for the level 1 and 440 for the level 2,level 1 & level 2 involves getting a crb check-course is run over 2 days,after getting qualified you can go out with a level 2 to gain so much experience and then ya can go onto the next stage to gain the level 2-the level 2 is run over 6 days involves canny bit paper work,demonstrating your angling skills/knowledge and more stuff but its straight forward just how they word half the stuff that can get ya thinking a little. Once your on the level 2 course you've got 2 years to complete it but 6 days is more then enough this one i'm on spread over 6 day but these days are from November and finish in february.

There needs to be more level 2 sea angling coaches in especially in the n.e,there's only 2 local to the sunderland area that i know of. Also once qualified you get a i.d card then you can take groups/adults/kids out fishing as long as your qualified,insured and everything is above board tax etc and its good pay too-that's if you get the work from it.

Also add angling only been recognised as a sport by the awarding body the last few years.

Here's the link to the full details Chris;

I received funding for the level 2,if you haven't had funding before its easy enough to get it from various places,its mainly level 2 game anglers who do the training for the qualification,it involves safe fish practice,demonstrating casting,what you'd do when in a fishing scenario i.e when you have groups or people out(mainly session planning and risk assessment's),fish anatomy,tying knots,different rigs etc. Are you interested in becoming a coach like Chris?

Not really thought about it Sam,just was interested in the sudden rise in people getting the qualification,i can however see the benefits in training people to become competent sea anglers,is there certain groups that the coaches will target,ie young offenders,disabled or is it open to young people who are starting off in angling........obviously specific groups may have funding to pay for coaching sessions....if young people starting off in angling wanted coaching would they have to pay for it out of there own pocket.......what sort of money would a coach expect to earn for tutoring a group or individual for the day,dont mean to put you on the spot sam but it is quite an interesting topic :up22:

Once a level 2 you can coach adults,young kids etc Chris but the 2 projects which are already up & running mainly its young kids they coach i.e youth offenders,some crazy prices for coaching some areas it can be 35 quid per hour,sea angling its 20 upto 25 quid per hour,i think like you say they'll be certain funding available to certain groups somehow. There is already a few great youth projects already running in the north east,i'm hoping to do it part time with anyone that's interested if i get it,then see if it can become a long term thing. Also the courses are usually held at the witton park lakes(get hooked center) and Easington.When Level 1 coaches are out with level 2's they rarely get paid they might get travel expenses if they are lucky its basically to gain experience more than out else and give you a little bit knowledge on coaching first hand.
