Keeping Ragworm
« on: November 01, 2010, 09:16:46 pm »
Just wondered if it is possible to keep ragworm alive for long periods of time?

Was thinking about using my fish tank with a couple of inches of sand in the bottom, then half filled with seawater and then run my airation pump. Would it work gents?
Anyone can fish......It's Catching them that's the hard part.

2011 SPECIES CAUGHT:  Coalie x3(biggest 33.5cm), Rockling x6, Blenny x1, Flounder x1, Whiting x1

I just keep mine in paper Dave change it every day thats all i do and they will keep for a week or 2.

If they are freshly dug put them in a bit of sea water just covering them.

keep them in just enough water so the worms backs are showing in a kat litter tray but must make sure the fridge is level and do not put too many in a tray and must be full worms will keep like this for over a month with no air stone

you can if you want but i just keep mine in a 3 gallon drum in the fridge so its the same temp and when you need to change the water just give it a shake to put lots of air in but leaving the backs out of the water the worms get air that way as well

Thanks for that gentlemen, that has cleared up a lot of questions. I just need a cat litter tray and some seawater  now.
