Seaham Last Night
« on: October 31, 2010, 07:04:31 pm »
Well gents here is my report from last night and what can i say but what a night. Me and mate got there, got set up and lines in the water by 6 pm. The water was very flat with only 6 inch breakers coming on the shore from 6 feet out, so i wasn't expecting a thrilling night but how wrong could i be. First cast out and after 10 minutes both rods went together, syncronised knocking  :laugh20:. My mate managed to get his in and what a lovely fish,a whiting 42 centimeters long and weighing just over 1 and half lbs.Mine came off half way in,the damn thing started swimming in towards me and i couldn't wind in fast enough. Now that was a good start you are saying. Well all i can say is that it just got better and better.Near enough every other cast 1 of us had a fish.HT was at 9.30pm and we had 4 keepers and had safely returned 4 by then, all whiting and all just on or over the 1 and a half lb mark.Went quiet for about 45 minutes with the occassional knock and then at 10.30 it went totally mad yet again. No sooner was the bait in the water and the rods back on the tripod and 'BANG' off the rod tips went. It was literally 1 Fish per cast between us. Stayed and fished til 1am and it was worth every minute of the 6 hours spent. It was brilliant sport and great fun. All in all by the end of the night we had pulled in 16 fish between us,15 of the whiting and 1 coalie. 7 whiting were returned to fight another day and so was the coalie. 8 whiting were kept, all over size and all 1lb 4oz and over. The largest whiting was 43 cm long and weighed in at 1 and 3/4 lb an absolutely stunning clean fish. My Huskie thinks it is his birthday as he has had fresh fish for his tea.

Thanks for the reply Bri....I had my camera with me but i was only gonna use it for a cod. Was a cracking night, just couldn't do anything wrong. I have found my own little spot and i have mapped it out and photographed it at low tide so i know where the snags are....That sounds very anal and sad :cm1:
