bait exploding
« on: October 16, 2010, 03:58:13 pm »
what do you reckon how much bait do you think is left on your hook after you cast out.
i ask this as rods seem to be getting more steellier faster recovery especialy with equal sect rods.
softer rods surely are kinder to baits and if cast properly will probaly need all the distance you require for fishing.
my other thread blow lug or blacks comes into this on account blacks when cast will take more stick than the humble blow lug. :MU2:  :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2: :MU2:

Had probs with the last lot of milky blow lug flying off and on impact , nee bother with blacks , if the bulmer worm were not milky i usually bunch them up tight to each other , and often retreieve straight after a cast to make sure they aint coming off, and have little bother if they are well bunched together , tried elasticated cotton with very soft worm it helps a bit

i try and keep the pennel hook really tight as sometimes when yucking at distance with the bait clipped with a genie clip the bait hits the water and goes up the line, you get the bites but dont hook them as your bait is above the hook.......as tony said plenty elastic helps

Same here, I incorporate impact shields into any rig I'm intending on whacking out, the only rigs I don't are those that I'll only likely lob out short to medium distances.

as said just bunch the lug baits up and they ussually stay on,not that i can cast that hard ,rag tails ussually fly off but im now putting tips (maccy /bluey) on with elastic and the whole worms are stopping on.oh im started using bait holder hooks again and all the baits do tend to stay near the hook and not fly up the snoods.
of all the things iv lost,
only my mind needs to be found.

Great question John i use impact shield on mine but still have the odd problem with the bait coming off even with plenty of elastic, apparently the impact shields are the best things to use to protect bulky baits but still bait comes off lol.  :s
