Hartlepool beaches
« on: September 21, 2010, 03:57:31 pm »
Hello, I'm new here and very new to any type of fishing. I've read and read many articles, bought the gear (well I hope I have it all covered) and am now ready to get out there.

My nearest venue is Hartlepool (I live just outside Newton Aycliffe) and I was hoping to do afew hours on friday night.

Since I'm a total novice I was hoping some nice chap could point me to a mark on one of the Hartlepool beaches, where I can learn the basics without fear of tangling or hooking someone.

Also a best time to go would be very helpful too.

Regards

Stephen

Yoy could try middleton pier mate and there is a chance there will be other people on there who can help you out if you need any help.

Thanks for the reply.

Are the beaches themselves not good for casting out or are the piers the main areas to fish from? I have seen people on the Whitburn beach in Sunderland and was wanting to give casting from a beach rather than a pier etc.

Welcome to the site mate, good to have you onboard......Unsure of the beach marks down Hartlepool to be honest, but sure some of the lads on here can point you in the right direction.......might be worth putting off till another day or fish one of the estuaries as the weather is set to turn bad on thursday/friday/saturday....30mph northerly winds will be pushing 14 ft swells onto the coastline and combined with the bigger tides will make most places unfishable even to the hardened beach angle :(r

Thank you Chris.

Such a shame, I get very little time from work and family committments that I was hoping friday night might be a good time. Oh well, such is the British weather.

No problem mate,as said you may find the estuaries a bit more comfortable with a bit of shelter from the wind, still a chance of getting a few fish out, other wise Sunday/monday may be a bit of a respite in the weather with dying seas and an opportunity to fish the beaches with a better chance of a few fish

alreet kidda, welcome .newton aycliffe,if you drive hows about a little journey up north to wearside ,loads of river fishing with a good chance of catching something .if chris11 or eddie,s out mayby meet up with them and they can show you the ropes .
if you still fancy harlepool  get in touch with trv he,s from that neck of the woods and mayby he can put you on the right track.
if all else fails get yasel on a feild and get some casting practice in ,if ya planing to fish the beaches you will need a bigish cast and a pair of chestys.
what gear have ya got for yasel (rod /reel)
of all the things iv lost,
only my mind needs to be found.

Shame steetly is now done with read plenty of good reports from there, fished middleton a few times, seems to produce best on a s/e wind when the seas rolling in towards the harbour, heard there has been a bit carry on recently though with the place some people actually locking the pier so no one else can get on,parking nearby next to the apartments and a canny bait shop nearby think its frirage (could be wrong with the name) but they also do some good bait. Never fished hartlepool alot so cannot comment about the place much, bait wise some good rag and muscle to be collected near the power station parking not so safe though and its a canny treck. Sure they'll be more members who can help if they've fished the area. Good luck and keep us posted on your fishing sessions.  good post

Friday it'll be straight in you're face mate fishing any of the beach marks around h/pool not the best introduction to beach fishing, middleton only really fishes S/Easterlies.Thinking about fishing just behind the north gare into the deep channel while the sea's running no reason I can't do it Friday send us a pm if you fancy it, be plenty of space there I know where you're coming from on wanting to try a beach first.Just let us know what kit you've got mate,so we know the gears right before the off.  :up22:Going over tomorra to check the access from the galv works is still open, doesn't matter if it isn't but it;s a shorter walk.
