Well done lads sounds like a canny few hours out.
They both look like flattys.
Had a look at the pics i took of the flatty's, they look different, eye's, lateral line, head shape etc.
I just noticed the photo link,, if I'd seen that earlier I'd have not even asked if it were a plaice or not, they are both definately flounders (no boney lumps on the head, the head shape and lateral line are not distinguishing features on plaice and flounders as they are the same pretty much).
Though what is interesting about those two you's managed to catch a left and right handed flounder, as I and coddy said tho, it doesn't matter you's done well given how crap the fishing has been lately to catch anything!
I stand corrected....It was a fish and my husky enjoyed it for his tea.
You're not the 1st and you wont be the last lol, that link I posted by Mick Thrussel is spot on, I looked all over Tinternet land for ways of identifying a plaice from a flounder and all I ever found was misinformation or cocky 'it's obvious' when really it's far from obvious to most of us.
Flounder is edible! just cook it in plywood till the wood has turned black then chuck the flounder and eat the charcole
I have made the same mistake as well.
Makes it a better day when you look at the likes of the seaham result today, anyone getting fish at the moment is doing well :up22:
I might try and get out tuesday morning and fish the tide in til about 3 and use up the bait i have left.
Aye mate, same place.....was a good few hours
Aye it is a canny spot Dave.
It fished really well upto HW mate and then went dead on HW. So i was reckoning on fishing it from LW upto HW and see what comes out.
