Had a few probs today with the bait slipping and masking the hook, does anyone use paper clips or thin wire wrapped around the hook to hold the bait.Seems more of a problem when using runnydown with mussel/crab etc. any thoughts Lad's

Are You Using A Pennel Set Up,, Or A Single Hook. With The Pennel It Should Be Easy,. With A Single Hook, Some Of The Locals Use A Paper Clip On The Snood With A Bead And Stop Knot To Keep The Bait In Place...

Pennel pulley's been my normal rig for the last couple of year, but lost a couple of good fish on the rocks lately so simplified it to a one hook pulley(less to get snagged) now I'm in two minds(been there for awhile I know) but need to keep the bait in place. Sorry Dave forgot about you're input, normally fish worm ,crab/ mussel/cart/razor/squid coctails in any combo and use elastic all the time mate.

If ya have been fishing rocks and losing gear Trev just shorten the length of ya trace and use
rotten bottoms marra then all ya lose is the sinker.
On the other hand if the crabs are still about they will pull ya hook it to the rock even with one hook on matey or just do what Chris says put a stop knot with a bead on or a crip then a bead.

If the traces get any shorter Ed I might as well tie a loop in the main line an dangle the hook from that :lol2: Already use r/bottoms with a pin and loop, that takes the lead clip out of the rig.So there's only the hook really to get snagged on the rocks or kelp. The bead sounds the way to go to stop the bait going up the line, but will still have a prob with it sliding down.Taking in to account when fishing these marks I don't use a clip down rig,so on impact the bait will be forced towards the hook point.Cheers for the input lad's.

If the sea is really ruff, i tie a leprechaun to the hook and just get him to hold onto the bait very tightly and then just cast out the leprechaun lol. :cm1: :cm1: :cm1:
