Redcar Open
« on: October 24, 2010, 09:16:38 pm »
Hard days fishing today lad's, fished Runswick bay started on the rocks to the left managed about 1 1/2 hrs on here before the tide washed us off, retreated to the scaur an then the beach infront of the lifeboat station but once off the rocks the weed was a nightmare.Saw about 2 mops pulled in the first hr off the rocks after that nowt.My mate Steve managed 2 blackbacks one 32 cm's and the other 28cm's, saved me some earache on the way home. I managed about a ton of kelp, will guarantee the place will fish tonight going to give it a shot later in the week fishing into dark.Last I heard the match was won with a 5lb cod.

Must be getting to ald for rock hopping on this scale Ed, I've got aches where I didn't know I had places  :lol2: Weather was shite hailstones and rain on an off, but the place is a cracking mark will be down during the week an take a camera(waste of time today) if you lad's fancy a dodge give us a shout. It's about 1/2 hr drive from Redcar but we'll meet up somewhere if you fancy it.

Just a badly timed match Sam, started an hr before low so anyone fishing rock marks would be very limited (bit of politics involved IMHO) but the way the weather went pretty much cancelled all the beaches

Open result 88 fished 42 cod weighed in, 1st prize shared 5lb cod a piece. Pool for heaviest bag was won by one of the Hsf winners who had 8 fish for 10 lb plus.Like I said it was patchy fishing the winning bag came from Boulby, must know that mark like the back of his hand to fish it yesterday.Wouldn't of gone near it for Rooney's wages with that sea on.
