on a small boat i would stick around the 3 mile mark , make sure of the weather etc, been out 15 mile on our old  32 foot coble, but me old man is a very good and experienced skipper and navigator , would go about 3 mile in our 18 foot double ender fishing rough ground , round the hendon to seaham area
have you got boats like tony 8)

We used to mate me dad was full time for a while  we had a salmon license allso, had the coble about 30 year got sold a while back , but been to sea in a few different boats . never been out for a good few years now but havent relly missed it , shore fishing is much more of a challenge, and when it was our rough to get out to sea we would be on the beaches , i could tell ya good few story's , maybe one day
