sounds like and would,nt mind giving it a go this place , but sounds as if good cast needed. now how do you do this with houses behind you for a few reasons i dont cast off the ground /south african or high inertia or brighten cast or whatever cast you call it, shame realy
Overhead thump, does the trick John,no need for massive distances,if you get the bait out 80 yards you can avoid the snags, stiil get fish closer in but less chance of getting it in :up22:
Well done Jim,canny report,and a canny session :up22:

still a lot going for overhead thump.
prob i have is i like to use softer tipped rods in the tyne and this type of rod is imho not very good for overhead hit.
softer tipped rod lets the grip lead get a better grip so as you dont get pulled round as easy.

overhead thump brings back memories my old favourite rod the three piece martin james springheel by leslie moncrief.

first used this rod set u with alvey reel had some nice cod out of sea lochs with set up also used to fish seaham a lot with this also alongside dick shenton/eddie talbot/stan talbot /jim docherty etc etc

i have fished opposite side of walkway icehouse area sometimes you can fish a plain lead on a small tide so can imagine the same on the walkway .i was always taught fish wide parts of river on big tides ie mill damm types of area and narrower on smaller tides .

i just dont no why people dont like fishing the likes of the tyne ie river to me its exceptional fishing rarely failing.

first of flood always best for me.

Agree with first of the flood John, but on the bigger tides, the fish at the moment are not starting to feed until a couple of hours into the flood and the better fishing seems to be last couple of hours of the flood....no two days the same in the tyne though ;)
