hello mate welcome to the site.1st time fishing on the walkway and ya get a fish ,not bad going mate.has already been said sometimes you get snagged up sometimes ya dont .the place to be is just after the jettys going towards the ferry landing,just after the 2nd jetty look on the posts and you will see 2xx between these right in front 15 feet either side is snag free(unless big tides were you will get pulled around) anywere else and you take your chances .you will find that most of the snaggs are about 40 metres from the walkway and the best bet is to cast mid river and on the retreive lift your gear and reel in as fast as possable,and hopefully avoid the snaggs .other than that get some strips of metal n drill a hole in it and make a rotten bottom so you will lose minimal gear.
