yes it was a good show for the the boat owners showed all those poor cod going back dead having worked on the decks of the same type of fishing boats for over 10 years when you are on the fish
90 %your prime fish ie cod flats haddock just like that boat last night are strong alive when lifted on deck the fish that suffer the most are the whitings small haddock undersized codlings if you noticed how fast the disgaurd was going over the side did you also notice the men gutting the fish and how slow the belt was moveing all them fish in the hopper [the thing were the cod end goes]still strong alive but every one of those fish was dead i smell a rat mate and every one who has fished commercial will no this
i know you fished trawlers a lot alan,do you think this is a set up,does this discard happen as the program showsI
think there is a link on here john,you can put your name down on an online petition,cant say it will do any good but a worthwhile cause
i know uve got more experience than most ,with regards this subject, ive even witnessed yr catch on the trawler thermoplele . wot do u think they should ? long line only like iceland?
yes discard happens mate its got to fish do die but its got to be up to the skipper to say to the deckhands get the fish back in the water as fast as possible but that will not happen the not getting paid for it even its in there interest to do so and yes i think it was a set up even when you are fishing for prawns and you are towing the net for 5- 6 hours and all them prawns going round and round your cod end like a grinder in there most of your stronger fish are sill alive ie cod and flats did any see that program the trawlermen that irish boat the one that had been done for going over his quoter  and he was tossing all the cod over the side saying that there is nothing a matter with the cod stocks all them cod were alive i becouse he made a point to show the cameras before he started to gut the fish i
